We are back in session and having a wonderful year so far! We are so happy to see our returning families and are loving getting to know our new ones. The children are adjusting well and we have had a few tears but all in all everyone is so happy to be back. We are looking forward to a fantastic school year here at Smyrna 1st. We hope that everyone has a great Labor Day weekend and will be ready to get back in the swing of a routine next week.!
School's out for Summer!!! We have had a wonderful year and hoping that everyone has a fantastic summer! See you in the Fall!
We cannot believe that the end of school is upon us! The children are busy with last minute projects, programs and just plain enjoying playing with their friends. We celebrated last Sunday at a wonderful reception honoring two of our amazing staff. Ms. Susan Brooks has been a teacher here for the last 35 years and Ms. Nancy Godbold has been in administration here for 29 years! WOW!!! They will be missed by students, parents and staff. We cherish the memories that we have made with them here and wish them the best in their retirement years!
The countdown is on for the end of the year! This time of year brings joy and sadness to the children and staff. We have had a wonderful year so far and are looking forward to the awards ceremonies and our K5 graduation. We hate to see our K5 class leave us but we are always excited for their next adventure. We also have mixed emotions about some of our staff not returning in the fall. Ms.Susan who has taught here for the last 35 years and Ms. Nancy who has been the Asst. Director for the past 29 years are leaving us for some traveling and relaxation in the days ahead. As you can see, there is excitement and sadness in the halls of SFUMK!!
Our first week back after Spring break has been a busy one. We started the week with Chapel with Pastor Derek. The Dandy Lion class jumped right into the Spring spirit and planted their terrariums. They love watching the seeds pop up through the dirt and turn into beautiful plants. All the 2 year classes made shakers and had a musical parade throughout the entire school. They were so precious! We are on the count down to the end of the school year and we have so much left to do!! Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and stay dry as the weather man said bad weather is coming on Sunday. Until next week!!
Happy Friday! We have a lot to catch up on! Last week was a busy one in that the "Puppet Guy" came and performed "The Dr. Dinosaur Show" AND the Leprechauns came to our school. The children all enjoyed the puppet show and are looking forward to next year when he will return with "The Zany Zoo" show. We were very busy on Thursday and Friday chasing the tricky little green men around. We set traps in all our classrooms and we did manage to catch a few of them. Did you know that Leprechauns turn into stuff animals if you look at them? That being said, we have a lot of stuffed Leprechauns here now! The Easter Celebrations will take place next week with all the children having egg hunts. We teach the children the real Easter story as well. Have a great weekend and enjoy the warmer weather:)
We have had a fabulous week celebrating our 56th Kindermart Consignment sale!!! We want to give a huge shout out to our Parent Volunteers for all their hard work to make the sale a success. We are so thankful for them! It's not to late to come and shop the sale as we are open today until 7:00 and tomorrow from 9:00-12:00. Tomorrow many of the items will be half price. Come early for the best selection! We have an exciting adventure next week when the Puppet Man comes to SFUMK. All of our students will get to enjoy a fabulous show on Thursday and Friday. We can thank our Parent's Club for sponsoring this event. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
This morning the school doorbell rang and the Cat in the Hat and Thing 1 were standing there!!! They came in and then visited all our classes. They made a big mess in every room and left it for the children to clean up. The children all said that the Cat and Thing 1 should learn to clean up their own mess. We love to have them come to visit every year:)
Our kiddos are busy getting ready for Valentine's Day (and parties) next week. With bulletin boards full of decorated hearts and more Valentines arriving each day, it's a great time of year to show our friends how much we love them.
**No school Monday due to Martin Luther King holiday.
