Singing our way through December

Dec 06 2017

The Christmas season is in full swing during music time. While the month might be short, we are working hard to sing, and dance, to a variety of holiday songs. You may hear your child come home singing the classics like "Jingle Bells" and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas"..... OR.... they may share a new song or two like "Christmas Bells" and "Dance like Snowflakes."

The classes are ready and prepared to "perform" a few musical selections for you next week. You might be wondering what are they going to sing? Well, I cannot tell you- it would ruin the surprise!! Be sure to bring those cameras, because you won't be disappointed!

Here are some links to classic Christmas music we are singing in Preschool:

1. We Wish You a Merry Christmas

Here are some songs you might not know as well:

1. Dance like snowflakes

* don't have a scarf? use a napkin, or ribbon- be creative!

2. Christmas Bells (sung to the tune of Jingle Bells)

         Christmas bells, Christmas Bells,
         Ring them all the day.
God the Father sent His son on that first Christmas Day.
         Oh, Christmas bells, Christmas bells,
         ring them all the day.
God the Father sent His son on that first Christmas day.

* this song is great way to help those little minds remember what Christmas day is all about

3. Reindeer Hokey Pokey

4. Harps, Halos  (to the tune of Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes)

Harps, halos, flap your wings, flap your wings,

Harps, halos, flap your wings, flap your wings,

For we are angels, hear us sweetly sing,

Harps, halos, flap your wings, flap your wings.

5. finger play:  Here is the Chimney

Here is the chimney (make fist with thumb inside),

Here is the top (put other hand over fist)

Open the lid (remove hand from fist),

And out Santa will pop (pop up thumb from fist).
